ECUType / Adaptronic

Adaptronic

Compatibility:

  • e420c
  • e1280s
  • e420d
  • 440
  • Plug-in ECUs

Adaptronic from firmware version 12 onwards, now have the option to output Race Technology data. This means you can connect the ECU to any Race Technology dash or data logger without the need of a ECU Serial Interface.

Configuration:

  • e420c
  • e420d
  • 440
  • Plug-in ECUs

The Adaptronic e1280s ECU, it must be running firmware version 3.039 or later. Go into Dedicated Functions-> General and configure the serial output variables below:

Connections:

This ECU should be connected via serial / RS232 connections:

e420c & 1st build e1280s

e420c & 1st build e1280s ECUs have 2 female DB9 connectors on the unit case. The Race Technology ECU Interface can be plugged into the ECU communication port. Connect the Race Technology ECU Interface to the DB9 connector that you would normally use to connect a laptop to the ECU.

2nd build e1280s

2nd build e1280s ECUs have a 4 -pin Mini-DIN connector on the unit case. The ECU port is labelled Vidi. Be aware the ECU cannot use this port and the USB connection at the same time.

3rd build e1280s, e420d, 440 & Plug-in ECUs

3rd build e1280s, e420d, 440 & plug-in ECUs have a stereo 2.5mm (mini headphone) connector on the unit case. You can buy a premade cable from Innovate Motorsports in the US, which is a 2.5mm cable to female DB9 cable, the part number is 3746 (Program Cable: LC-1, XD-1, Aux Box to PC). Connect the 2.5mm headphone jack connector into the serial out port on the ECU. Do not connect this to the serial in port. Connect the other end directly to the Race Technology dash or data logger if running firmware 12 or later. Only ECUs running earlier firmware than version 12 need to connect to our ECU Serial Interface, if running earlier firmware, we recommend upgrading this for direct connection to Race Technology products. Be aware the ECU cannot use the serial out port & the USB connection at the same time.

Data Channel Listings - For systems using an ECU Interface:

  • The Adaptronic ECU should be set to output data at 57.6 kbaud.
