1. Race Technology supplied sensor calibrations
The following are the equations that you can use with the Variable Manager in the Analysis software, to interpret the signals from the sensors supplied by Race Technology. Also, this file contains the instructions for connecting a sensor if you didn't have it supplied from Race Technology with cable.
1.1 Calibration Equations

Temperature [C] = 33.3333 x input - 16.6666
Temperature [F] = 60 x input + 2
Temperature [K] = 33.3333 x input + 256.48333
Thermocouple (high range -100oC to 1150oC)
Temperature [C] = 2.21 x input3 -15.43 x input2 + 273.61 x input -102.05
Temperature [F] = 3.978 x input3 -27.774 x input2 + 492.498 x input -151.69
Temperature [K] = 2.21 x input3 -15.43 x input2 + 273.61 x input + 171.1
Thermocouple (low range -100oC to 210oC)
Temperature [C] = 0.711 x input3 - 6.67 x input2+ 81.55 x input -112.48
Temperature [F] = 1.2798 x input3 -12.006 x input2+ 146.79 x input -170.464
Temperature [K] = 0.711 x input3 -6.67 x input2 + 81.55 x input + 160.67
Standard pressure (10 Bar FSD, fuel and oil)
Pressure [Bar] = 2.5 x input - 1.25
Pressure [PSI] = 36.25 x input - 18.125
Brake pressure (250 Bar FSD, Bosch type)
Pressure [Bar] = 62.5 x input - 36.25
Pressure [PSI] = 906.25 x input - 525.625
Brake pressure (250 Bar FSD, RT type, Supplied since Jan 2011)
Pressure [Bar] = 62.5 x input - 31.25
Pressure [PSI] = 906.25 x input - 453.24
Brake pressure (260 Bar FSD, Bosch type)
Pressure [Bar] = 66.67 x input - 33.335
Pressure [PSI] = 966.98 x input - 483.49
Throttle angle (%)
V1 = the voltage when the throttle is shut
V2 = the voltage when the throttle is wide open
Throttle [%] = (x – v1) / (v2 – v1) *100
Pedal position (mm)
Position [mm] = x / 5 * 10
Linear sensors (mm)
Position [mm] = x / 5 * (total stroke length in mm)
In all the above formula the "input" is in volts.
1.2 Connecting the sensor to the logger
The wires from the sensors are:
- Red - Connect to the +5v output from the DL1
- Back - Connect to ground (0v) on the DL1
- White - Signal output from the sensor, this can be connected to any of the analogue inputs on the logger
Please note in the cases of the Bosch water, oil and air temperature sensors, these require an external 1000 ohm resistor to operate. If you have purchased the sensor from us with a cable attached then the resistor will be included and nothing more needs to be done. If you have purchased the sensor without any cable the resistor will need to be added.
