Dash 2 has no 5V feed?

Dash 2 has no 5V feed?

Yet the sensors require one, so if I'm only using the Dash2, how does that work? :?

Radio Shack Part# 7805

One pin is wired to 12v, another pin is wired to vehicle ground and the third pin provides a stabilised 5v. For info on what pin does what, you need to reference the manufacturers data sheet on the specific 7805 device. (The 7805 is readily available from a host of manufacturers)

Sounds pretty strightforward. Does it need protecting? Will heat shrink do the job?
