how to attach a throttle position sensor to the racing kart

Postby choco » Tue Jul 27, 2010 2:08 am

I love driving a racing kart.
So I want to sense the gas pedal position and throttle position.

Now, I want to attach the Pedal Position Sensor.

And I'm planning to attach the throttle sensor.

But I have no idea how I attach these sensor.
If there is anyone who attach these sensor to the racing kart,
please show me a picture about the kart attached the sensor.
Please tell me how you attach these sensors.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Cheers,

Installing standard sensors in go-karts can present some challenges as the controls are slightly different.
The standard throttle position sensor is intended to measure the rotation of the actual throttle butterfly, now in the case of a gokart the sensor may be completely unsuitable for the carburettor (I haven't fitted one myself so I would not know)

I would have thought the easiest place to get the brake and throttle information would be from each pedal, but I don't think that the pedal movement sensor would be suitable. You would most likely have to use the miniature linear sensor as these have a longer travel.

Redundant

Installing both a gas pedal position sensor and a throttle position sensor seems redundant. Under normal operation as you move the gas pedal the throttle should move a proportional amount. The only time they will move differently is if there is a problem with the throttle cable.

Hi,

The miniature linear sensors are +50mm longer then the stroke, the stroke sizes available are:

12.5mm
25mm
50mm
75mm
100mm
125mm
150mm

Alo note that the miniature linear sensors are a higher quality item and purpose made for autosport. We've supplied 100's and to the best of my knowledge never had a failure to date.

Kind regards,
