wheel speed pulses, Dash2

Postby stevieturbo » Fri Jul 03, 2009 5:30 pm

I think this is required direct for speedo and milometer operation ??

Ive wired the undriven wheel speed sensor to the Dash 2.

The equation in the manual says for inches... 63360/ ( wheel circumference )

ie 63360 / ( 26" x 3.142 ) = 775.5 give or take.

I run 22 teeth per revolution. 22 x 775.5 = 17061.

On the setup menu of the Dash2, it only allows me to go as high as 12000 ????

What gives ?

Not sure it has the ability to measure frequencies that high.

I used a bolt on the back side of the wheel flange (bearing and flange are the same assembly on my car) for the speed sensor pickup. Brake rotor bolts, wheel studs, etc. are also used. The one pulse per rev that I get is perfectly accurate for wheel speed pickup.

To figure out the calibration, I turned on pulse counting, then went for a drive and picked off the number of pulses over a measured distance. Easier then trying to measure actual rolling wheel circumference.

I already have a 22 tooth trigger fitted to my undriven wheel for wheel speed to my ecu, so it makes sense to use it.

I could probably hook up to a rear wheel...but with the likely hood of traction loss, I dont want it used for a speedo reference.

The DASH2 has a maximum pulse per mile capability of 12000. We do how ever have a programmable input divider which can divide the input from the wheel speed sensor by up to 256.
If you are interested in that solution do get in touch with us.

Thanks...but can the ecu interface speed reading be used for the Odometer ?

Or must it be directly off the Dash2 speed input ?

I have this same problem...... Either OP can you share the solution, or can RT support help me with the divider program pls?

My situation is I need to input 28,023 pulses per mile (36 tooth trigger wheel with 2.067m rolling circumference tyres).

I have posted a new post in the general forum, but thought I'd resurrect this one at the same time incase it's still being monitored. Thanks!

356, the solution that support offered was not a software solution but in fact a hardware pulse divider. You will find it here: http://www.race-technology.com/content. ... &cat=30606
There are also similar 3rd party solutions also such as: http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/ ... ct_id=126/ or http://jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp?ID= ... TID=965#11

Thanks for the reply.... more money and extra bits of kit required then :( I best go and disconnect the hall sender now, or half a dozen passes of the Bruntingthope runway will put 500 miles on the car, LOL!
