Emerald K6 with interface lead

Hi, can someone explain to me if I buy the interface lead to connect my dash2 to my emerald will I still need to connect all the other wires on the comm 1 lead, or will it be a case of plugging it in at the ecru and plugging it in at the serial cable on the comm1 line?

Or would i need to solder the wires on the back of the dash2 comm1 port to a serial cable plug?
