Replacing Astratech with DL1+Dash1 - Use of old sensors

Postby jasonc » Wed Jun 07, 2006 9:14 am

I am replacing an old Astratech system with a DL1+Dash 1 Combination. The Astratech has wheel speed, RPM and Throttle position sensors. With the TPS, I was wondering if I should be able to connect it straight into the DL1 rather than replacing it.

Not much need I guess for the wheel speed sensor given the DL1 GPS.

I did the same a couple of years ago and kept everything except the speed sensor. The other sensors worked fine.

You should be able to interface the throttle position sensor to the DL1. Most are 3 wires, attach it to the DL1 ground and +5V, and to an analog input. (Assuming it's an add on, not part of the ECU system).

Assuming that the wheel speed sensor is a pulse generator, you can probably interface it as well. Though, as Andy said, you probably won't get much benefit, as the GPS is a better speed measurement anyway, and is what our Analysis software will use. Wheel speed can be useful for looking at spin or lockup, of course.

We have used an astratech throttle pot with the dl1 and had no problems.
