Cannot connect to software with AP-22

I have an AP-22 and have never been able to connect to the DCAT software or version 4, 5, or 6 of the Monitor software. I've tried both Windows 2000 and XP without success. I have no problem downloading data using Hyperterminal.
Any ideas?
