DL1 MK2 Not saving data to CF card?

Hi all
I've been given a DL1 Mk2 which I intend to install along with a Dash2 display in my Mighty Mini race car. I start it logging, leave for a few minutes and then stop the logging, then wait for the logging LED to go out, Then power off the DL1 and remove the CF card every time I have tried this the card has been blank. can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?
The memory card am using is a Lexar Professional 2gb 133x.
I have also noticed that the SETUP.BIN file that is placed on the card to configure the unit does not get removed from the card? is this normal. i would have expected the file to be removed after the unit has updated it settings.
