Serial Communication to Video4

I want to send Data like Height and Distance to the Video4 unit from an external ECU by using serial communication. The Data will be overlayed graphically on a Camera picture. The Video4 unit combines the video stream and overlays graphics and store the single video stream on the flash memory. I think that I should use the Serial Data Format messages. But I don´t understand the connection between the Data (Height and Distance) that I will send to the Video4 unit to be shown in the video image and stored on the flash memory.

I'm not quite clear... you want to display 2 variables on the video overlay and you are asking how to do that?

Where is the data coming from?
