Raw GPS with Analysis Version 7 and Firmware 9-1

Postby andynorris » Fri Feb 15, 2008 1:30 pm

Hi,

I have updated my firmware to 9-1 and am running the Analysis Software at 7.2.24 using a Dl-1 Mk1. When I change the analysis options to enable raw GPS in analysis options and select Use pre-processed 5hz/10hz and reprocess the data I get the error message "You selected to use Raw GPS data in the analysis options, but none is present in the Run file". However in my dl1 config I have got raw GPS enabled and in the values table I can see values for most of the GPS variables including GPS vel raw[mph].

What am I missing to process the raw data correctly?

I can not find any documentation as to the setting and functionality behind the Data --> Analysis Options --> GPS Options tab for V7. Does anyone have any?

Andy:

That option is only relevant to the DL2, it has an optional package that allows storage and post analysis of the completely unprocessed GPS data at 20Hz.

This mode is not supported by the DL1 GPS chip, so that data is unavailable.

This does need to be documented better, I agree. This was not an issue prior to V7 software, as it had a separate DL2 mode, now that these are merged, this option is visible even with data that does not support it.

I think that we also have two meanings of the word "raw" - one meaning unprocessed GPS range data (satellite by satellite, as in the 20Hz DL2 data) the other meaning GPS speed data which is not merged with the accelerometer data. That's what you are seeing under "GPS vel raw".

Make sense?
