Yaw Rate Sensor...
OK, I'll admit I'm a bit of a cheap skate. I've been happily using a yaw rate gyro into one of the channels on my DL-1 since I first got it (my serial number is just into 3 figures), and don't really want to spend the money for the all singing and dancing drift angle measuring version. Just thinking...

DL1 Firmware
Any chance someone could e-mail the latest firmware to me? I'm running an original (orange connecters on rear) Mark 1

Yes, but you can't do it with the sensor set included in a DL-1 as standard - you need a yaw rate gyro as well. You compare the yaw rate from the sensor with that found by dividing the lateral acceleration by the forward speed and the difference gives you a measure of US/OS. There are a few caveats:...

You can scale the analog inputs directly without having to use any user channels. If you go to Data...Variable Manager and the open up the external inputs tree, for each analog channel there is a sensor type/units section. If you select this you can enter a custom scaling using the same formulae as ...

You can differentiate a variable using a user channel - it's under advanced options. It appears to work on the unfiltered data recorded by the device which may or may not be too noisy for you. As for bandwidth, 100 Hz is more than adequate - the two major resonant frequencieis you'd be interested in...
