RTAnalysisHowDoI / ImproveANoisySensorTrace

My sensor trace from an analogue input is noisy, how do I improve it?

step 1: To smooth the amount of noise on a graph, enter the Data menu in the top, left hand corner of the screen, and select the "Variable Manager" option.

step 2: Click on the small cross to the left of the general category of variables that you wish to look at. This will open up a sub-menu.

step 3: Now click on the small cross to the left of the variable that you wish to look at, and select the "smoothed over" option from the sub-menu that is opened. A window will now open up. Type in the smoothing time (in seconds) that you require, and press "OK". (N.B. the smoothing time is the length of the intervals over which the data is smoothed. For example, if the smoothing time is 0.5 seconds, then the data will be smoothed by taking an average reading from every 0.5 second interval).

step 4: The graph should now be smoothed.
