ECUType / EMtron

EMtron KV8/12/16 ECU

The EMtron ECU is capable of outputting a wide range of variables from the CAN outputs. The below information should be used to connect and set up the ECU to the Race Technology range of products.

Supported models

  • EMtron KV8
  • EMtron KV12
  • EMtron KV16

Race Technology Connections

EMtron Connections

The CAN High and CAN Low connections can be found in the same locations across the entire range of ECUs. These connections are located on Connector D.

D8 CAN Hi D14 CAN Lo

D10 CAN Hi D16 CAN Lo

Please see below for the Connector D pin-out

ECU Configuration

The CAN output of the EMTRON range of ECUs is configurable, via the EMtune ECU mapping software. The correct settings must be made in order for Race Technology Products to connect via CAN.

Go to Communications > CAN Bus 1 > CAN Bus 1 Setup > Set the CAN 1 Baud Rate to 1Mbps.

Now go to Communications > CAN Bus 1 > CAN 1 Channel 1 > Setup this section up as shown below:

Enable ON DATA set Pre-defined Tx Data Set 1 CAN Base Address (29-BIT) 1250 Addressing Sequential 29-BIT Direction Receive & Transmit Transmit Rate 20Hz

  • Save the map file from File > Save As.
  • Send the map file from File > Send File to ECU.

Setting up ECU

1. CAN bus speed must be set to 1Mbit/s:

2. CAN setup must match the following:

3. Once all settings match the map has to be sent to the ECU:

4. A back up map file can be saved from here:

Note - Not all channels listed in the table(s) above may be available from your ECU. This can be dependent on the vehicle model & year of manufacture.
