<< Previous, Frequency inputs
There are two RPM inputs on the DL1 CLUB, the high level RPM input is designed for direct connection to the low tension side of an ignition coil, the low level input is for a 12v square wave directly from an ECU.
Each input can be enabled or disabled from the RPM inputs configuration box.
Only one of the two inputs can be enabled at any one time, the input must be enabled before any of the settings can be changed. The number of pulses per rev is vital for getting the correct reading. Typical values are as follows:
|ECU tachometer output
|Coil per plug ignition
|Twin coil pack
|Coil on a four cylinder engine
|Coil on a six cylinder engine
|Coil on an eight cylinder engine
|Coil on a ten cylinder engine
|Coil on a twelve cylinder engine
Filtering can be applied for the maximum rate of change or to smooth over a number of seconds, this can be very useful if the ignition signal is very poor.
When testing the ignition pickup, always test with the filtering turned off so you can check that the data is as good as it can be before you try to clean it up with filetering.
