Need to update settings on Dash2 v9.3.4

Postby JeffKay » Sat Sep 08, 2018 3:22 pm

I need to update settings on my Dash2 display v9.3.4
I do not have a logger or video.

I downloaded the software from Race Technology and found the legacy software.

It's not very intuitive. I'd appreciate help with

1) Backing up current config
2) Adjusting the max revs to 9000 and shift lights
3) Adjusting the Speedometer to be 3% less, it's fast now.
4) Saving this config to a file and updating the Dash2

Also, is it worth updating to firmware 10.x? If so, can it read a config file saved from version 9?

Thanks
Jeff

Have you tried reading the manual?

The tasks you're wanting to do are normal for anyone setting a Dash2 up and are pretty simple if you follow the manual.

Thanks for that help and insight. I never would have thought of that...

Except..

Their is no help file with the legacy apps and I can not find the manual about programming it for firmware 9.x . The only download is the Analysis software as a single installer.

Do you have a link you can post? The Wiki is totally useless.

The help for the legacy DASH2 config software is in the knowledge base in the Hardware configuration software / Legacy products

Martin, I cannot find anywhere how you read the current config off the hardware and save it.

I read this in the documentation...

Directly from the PC
This requires connection of the DASH2 serial connector and the serial port on the PC, using
the serial extension cable provided. A USB to serial adaptor will also be required if the PC
does not have a serial port. Full instructions for uploading the new configuration to the
DASH2 are provided in the Race Technology Online Help System by following the path:
Software\Configuration and reflash\Configuring display products.

Can someone please cut and past the instructions for at least backing up the current config.

I have configured AIM devices before, but never this. AIM was fairly intuitive.

I did not want to just connect my computer without knowing how to backup the current config. I did not install the Dash2 and have no way of recreating the setup without a lot of work if I inadvertently copy over it.

I see the Read Configuration button the newer Dash2 programmer.

Can't find it on the old one. I don't want to write over the current config by mistake. I did not program it. Can it read the current config? Is that the default when you plug it in? Any help would be appreciated.

You can't read the configuration back from the older firmware, it was a one way process. That is one of the big improvements in the new firmware.
