First time install ..... DL1 MK2 / Dash 3 / DTA S80

Postby Espritv8man » Mon May 14, 2012 8:41 pm

I have connected Dash3 to DL1 and S80 using the CAN interface.

I have connected a momentary push button switch to begin / stop logging and a LED to show logging status.

With everything switched on it looks like things are functioning, but when I turn on logging the dash freezes. When I switch off it appears to work again.

When I look in the CF card there are logged data files, but when I open them in V8 there is nothing there ....

Can anyone please advise ..... I am racing at the weekend and would really like to get this super bit of kit working ...

Cheers Simon

How did you setup the serial port to the Dash3 from the DL1? (disable un-needed data and limit to 5-10hz - so you don't flood the serial link)

You are decoding serial data in the DL1 config? (check to enable)

A bit of success

Thanks for the reply....

I have made a bit of progress .... I disabled pretty much everything ...however this did not solve the problem.

Checked the DL1 using Monitor ..... looked like lots of things being logged by the DL1 including data from my DTA S80.

So decided to reconnected the Dash .....

However when I pressed my remote log button the dash still froze !!

I then disconnected my remote log button and used the one on the front of unit, now it seems to work ....the logging ident L appearing on the dash, lap markers recognised etc.

My problem appears to be the remote log button .... cannot see why this should cause a problem... I have a push button connected to earth. ... I also have a LED connected to the status .... I press the log button and the LED iluminates, press it again and it goes out.... this suggests it is working as it should ... but it obviously isn't.

Has anyone else had difficulty with connecting the remote log switch?

Cheers Simon

Might be a short someplace? Are any of the bits mounted to graphite (which is conductive)?

Is your switch a momentary?

I'd double check the wiring. Something isn't right.....
