i have a dl1 with motec ecu interface and a dash3. i have many high/low warnings set up such as high/low oil pressure, overboost, water temp, oil temp, etc.
The problem is that when an alarm is activated the screen just changes to display the warning and the shift lights no longer illuminate. its just not eye catching enough and in the heat of racing i do not see any of the warnings. is it possible to have the alarm trigger an external light at the same time or even have it strobe the shift lights or something? seems pointless having an alarm if you cant see them! i do have a separate high intensity low oil pressure light but not for anything else.
Thanks, Dan
possible to set up a warning light?

You can use the shift lights to indicate a warning as well as RPM.
If you set the shift lights to be using a user defined variable
You then need to create a equation for the user defined channel.
- If water is more then 100 or oil temp is more then 140 output 7000 else output RPM
Kind regards,

this is great! thanks!
So just to be clear i can have the shift lights working as normal until there is an alarm and then have the shift lights flashing (by doing as you have described) along with a display telling me what the alarm is (by setting the alarm in the variable) as long as the 2 are set to the same value?
i think i understand how to make the custom equation by following the example. can i just keep adding to it to get all the alarms i need by adding it after another "or"?
for example: if(VAR_1007>105 or VAR_0201>130 or VAR_0200<1 or VAR_1000>60 or VAR_0203>950,7000,VAR_0010)

Yea or that haha.

The shift lights work as normal until an alarm is activated. The shift lights then all flash and the alarm is displayed on the screen. The alarm can be cleared from the screen but the lights continue to flash until there is no longer an alarm condition. I have alarms set for lots of engine parameters such as: coolant temp, oil temp, oil pressure, overboost, inlet air temp, exhaust gas temp etc. all of which i consider important and possibly engine saving. If i had this in the past i could have saved multiple engines. Having the alarms also allows the driver to concentrate on driving with no need to check important engine parameters.
