Laptop Recommendations

Postby jml » Tue Apr 16, 2013 7:11 pm

hi chaps

I've been running the Analysis SW on my desktop without any issues
Intel i2-2600 CPU @ 3.4Ghz - 8Gb ram - runs plenty fast enough

My old laptop
Intel T9300 2.5Ghz - 4Gb ram does struggle.

Any recommendations for a cheapish laptop that can cope with the sw and video playback ?

Morning,

In my experience i3's are good, i5's are great.... i7's are even better, but a bit quite expensive and a bit over the top!!

The other thing that really helps is a SSD for the swap file with v8.5.

Finally... some virus checkers completely kill the performance - you can certainly reduce an i7 to sub-i3 performance by just installing norton etc!!

Thanks,

Support (Andy)

Should i got smaller or larger on the swap file to improve performance ?

doesn't change the performance at all... only the amount of data. If you have room, go for a big one!

Think a new laptop might be the real solution ;)
