Can the CAN interface communicate with more than one CAN device at once?
For example, is it possible to use a single CAN interface to receive data from an ECU and also data from a PDM?
My current R-T system includes:
DL-1
Dash-3
Serial ECU Interface for Vi-PEC ECU.
I am considering a RacePak Smartwire PDM, which allegedly features CAN output.
My Vi-PEC ECU supports CAN.
If I change out my Serial ECU interface to a CAN interface, would it be possible to log data from the ECU and PDM concurrently?
If not, is there another way to log data from an ECU and separate PDM at the same time?
Does the CAN interface support RacePak's PDM (or vice-versa)?
Thanks,
Will
CAN Interface - support more than one CAN device?
Support
Hi Will,
If the 2 devices and running on the same CAN bus then yes. If they both have a seperate CAN bus then no unless you can connect them together. If the bus's are not too busy and they are running at the same speed, ID length and don't have the same ID's then in therory you can connect them together but some devices dont like it when receiving other CAN data.
You can use 2 CAN interfaces if need be and get the data into one datalogger.
Kind regards,
RT support

Interesting. So 2 CAN interfaces can be daisy-chained?
Does that mean that I could continue to use a Serial ECU interface for the ECU, then add a CAN interface for the PDM?
Thanks for the response!
Cheers,
Will
