Accelerometer Values Reading Very Low

Postby WillM » Mon Apr 25, 2011 10:09 pm

I'm trying to help a friend. The accelerometer data recorded by his DL-1 has very low values. The traces look correct, but the values are way off.

Where he would normally see -1.6 to 1.6 lateral g's, the data is showing ~-0.40 to 0.40 g's.

Same situation for long g's as well.

If you were to look at just the graphs, they would appear correct, but the scale is all wrong.

He has owned A DL-1 for years, but sold his last year, and recently purchased a used one, so this logger is new to him.

He has a Mk1 DL-1, Dash3, and CAN ecu adapter. All seem to be working normally. I recently reflashed the DL-1 with the latest firmware.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Will

You can check the calibration by logging while resting the unit on a level surface on each of the six faces. Should read 1g at each position! If not, contact RT for advise to recalibrate the unit. :D

I have tried this test and came up with the following:

In every direction, when the logger should have been reading 1G, it was only reading ~0.23 G's.

Is this something that would be fixed by recalibrating the accelerometers?

How did this problem get introduced to the system in the first place?

Thanks,

Will

Don't know but if it's a DL1 MK1 then you could try this:
