Logging AFR and EGT on DL1

Postby jacko996 » Sat Feb 14, 2009 7:54 am

Hi

I have both the above connected via the DL1 can not see any data for these 2 sensors on the analysis at all.

Have I not done something correctly?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure you connected them to the proper input channel and that you have initiated the channel in the DL1 config. You also need to ensure that you are getting a signal from the sensors.

What AFR and EGT sensor package are you using?

Hi

The egt is a thermo couple and amplifier from RT and the AFR is the plx devices one.

I am getting the readings on the dash 2 but the DL1 is not logging them?

I did not realise you have to initialise the chanels in the DL1, Is this easy to do

Cheers

The SETUP.BIN file that the unit reads on start up. It's in the documentation.

Got the setup.bin file on the card etc,

But cant find anything on the analysis program to show me any of the analogue inputs from the DL1??

In Analysis go:

Data > Variable Manager > External Inputs

then check the relevant box the input channel. Make sure you hit "Apply" and re-process the data.

You will also have to enter the relevant formula for each device into its particular analog input channel. the EGT is supplied under the 'Standard' sensors (Thermocouple), but you will have to enter the AFR formula yourself.

Thanks for all your help chaps, :D
May have a little trouble sorting the AFR but will give it a go

Jacko996,

If you are getting the readings on the Dash2 then you can bring them directly into the DL1 using the (already) installed serial cable. DL1 analog inputs 17 to 20 correspond to Dash2 analog inputs 1 to 4. Just use the same formula for AFR that you used in the Dash2.

Thanks Gary. That sounds like the best way to go.

At the moment I have the AFR and EGT wired inti DL1 analog inputs 2 and 3. and get readings on the dash2 which were configured in the dash 2 software.

Do I just have to enable 18 and 19 inputs on the DL1 config? or do I have to move the sensor wires to those inputs as well?

Cheers

Unless you need more inputs for use on the DL1 there's really no need to move them. But if you do want to move them, yes, you will have to move the sensor wires to the DASH2.

I think Gary was just letting you know where they log to if you had them already going to the DASH2.

jlucas,

You are right, I thought that because he was reading the correct values in the Dash2 they had been directly wired into it.

jacko996

If the Dash2 is correctly reading the AFR then all you have to do is enter the same custom formula you used in the Dash2 setup in the DL1 custom formula area for analog input 2 (it that's the one you have hard wired the AFR to.

I will give it a go and let you know the results
