dash3 configuration

What special cable do I need to connect the Dash3 for configuration? is it just a split serial so I can have the dl1 connected to the dash 3 and also to the computer?

just save the config file to a flash card and update through the DL1

Well I did this for the DASH 3 config and no data was uploaded to DASH 3 which is still totally non functional save for mph data. If the config shown on this forum is correct the DASH should be talking with the DL1 but I assume the CF card has not transferred new data to DASH. Why can't the DASH be pre configured to work with DL1 at factory. Why is this such a pain in the $#%?

It is configured just fine from the factory. Screen changes or RPM pulse/shiftlights will of course require unique settings.

Is your CF card formatted in FAT?

formatted in FAT and the factory settings did NOT match the recommended settings on this forum by moderator. I made those changes. This is the link:

Those are DL1 settings, not DASH settings like you asked about.

My guess is most DL1s are purchased without displays, hence the default setup.

As far as I know the only DASH settings are for personal preferences for viewing ie. placement of data on screen. I don't think there is anything in the DASH 3 config to enable it to communicate with the DL1. That is done via the DL1 config program correct? I've emailed to you the data you requested on 7/29.

Correct, the DASH is always in a "receive" mode.
