Ive been reading the other thread on this but it is not helping me. I think im missing a step ??
Ive loaded the gear ratios in and wheel circumference and I have an RPM feed that shows up in analysis 7.3.38 but iim not seeing anything about gears ??

Thanks

Hi,
Keep in mind that in order to display the gear through rpm/gear ratio combination, you should use also a speed sensor.

If it's not your case, you should provide more details about your setup and describe your steps in order to achieve it.

A

I think he's using the GPS sensor for speed.

Do you have the gear variable showing up at all? In some recent versions of Analysis it appeared to have been removed (or was missing), so that might be why.

The only solution I'm aware of, and I'm not necessarily using the latest version of Analysis, is to download an older version... If you can find one...

It's meant to be there!!! I believe this is one of those unfortuante bugs that strike from time to time. No doubt it'll be fixed soon...

The daft thing is when you try to name a user defined variable as 'Gear' it states the name is already in use - but it does not exist!

I have since created my own gear channel.

Gear Not Calculating Correctly

Postby chrisp993 » Sun Mar 29, 2009 1:53 am

Similar problem I think - I used to get the GEAR variable in Analysis calculated correctly - now it stubbornly displays 2 regardless of the actual gear

- my RPM and Speed (from GPS) traces look sensible
- my Gear Ratios and Wheel Circumference under Vehicle Options are correct

Somewhere amongst the software updates, this variable stopped working - what's going on :?:

gears

Hi All,

I'm not really sure - it might just be worth upgrading your software to the latest from the web site. For a while gear was missing from the software, but this is back in now.

I loaded the sample run data in and the car file, and generated this graph:

Image

This is displaying the gear that the software is calculating and the ratio between RPM and speed done as a user defined variable.

Kind regards,
