Powered by USB

Postby BiKenG » Sat Jul 11, 2015 3:52 pm

Would it be possible to have the D2P powered solely by a USB connection from a computer?

When I connect with USB, Windoze bongs even if the vehicle is off and the D2P therefore apparently unpowered. This suggests that its USB interface is powering up. But there's no actual communication and you can't actually do anything until you turn the vehicle on and the D2P powers up normally. But to simplify this, could the D2P receive sufficient power from the USB port to allow it to be configured etc and so not have to turn on the ignition in the vehicle first?

Sorry, this should have been posted to the Hardware requests forum. Apologies.
