Increase Resolution with no video license.

Postby Jeroen » Thu Jul 25, 2013 8:32 am

Hey guys,

I'm running the DASH2 and DL1 on my track bike.

No that everything works fine I want to go to the next step.

I'm already filming my races and trainings and want to make a nice movie with overlays.

My recordings are in Full HD (1920x1080). When I convert it to vd4 format is will be cropped to 1024x768 (first loss).

Then when creating the movie with overlay and export it, it will be reduced again with 50%. Now my movie is verry small.

The actual movie is so small that the overlay isn't readable anymore.

Please remove the 50% reduction on the export. The 1024x768 I can life with. And even the RT logo doesn't bother me. But due to the verry low resolution the overlays aren't readable anymore :(

The best free option is to:

- upgrade to the latest v8.5 on the web site
- use your HD video directly
- free export is still limited to 50%, but this is 50% full HD so 960 x 540 so a good upgrade from what you have at the moment

Thanks, RT support (Andy)

Thanks for the info andy.

Edit: Nevermind. Found the problem.

I already had loaded a vd4 file. Then It's not possible. Started with a new project and now I can load a mp4 file :)

Hi Andy,

Sorry to bother you again.

But in the new version it is scaled down to 25%. (From analyse -> export to video.)

My input is a 1920*1080 .mp4 file and the export is a 480*270 .mp4 file :(
I'm using a full hd overlay.

I'm running version: 8.5.0077

Is that a bug ?

Because now the overlays aren't readable. (F1 Kmph Full HD).

no - as intended I'm afraid, simply the free video handling is there so you can try it out and see if you like it... and I know some customers are using it for generating youtube videos etc. The full functionality requires a license.

Ach crap. Oke thanks for the great support.

Well on the website it is not advertised as a test version. :(
The full funtionallity requires a licence, correct. But has more features.

This is completely not workable. Everywhere on the website is say's 50% instead of 25% :(

I had debated making a green screen (chromakey) movie to use as the background, make custom gauges fill the whole screen, then overlay that onto my actual video using another program, and manually sync the two. Laziness prevailed and I got the video license instead.

The functionality before you have a license is a tease to encourage you to buy the license. Nothing wrong with that - they're trying to make money off an add-on software package. MANY other programs do the same thing.

There are a few other data overlay programs out there if all you want is data overlaid on video. Dashware.net is one. But then you don't have video in your Analysis session, which can be useful. You have to decide if that's worth the extra cost or not.

True, I know that.

But I don't need all that functionality. And I don't bother the logo in the movie. I even don't bother that it is 50%. I only need the free functionality.

But 25% is way to much.

I do want to pay for something like this. And dashware is only 49 dollar. This video license is 300 dollar. But I only need the license for a normal resolution. Not for all the extra functionality. And everywhere in the website say 50% and not 25% :(

Don't get me wrong, I do love the RT products and the great support here :)

What would be great is an extra license type that only enables the full resolution ;) I would pay 100 dollar for that :)

Race Render is another option for you http://racerender.com/RR2/Features.html, demo gives you 3 minutes for free to try it out, then purchase for $25 or €20.

Any update on the 25% / 50% bug??

Now 7 months later there is still 50% on the website. http://www.race-technology.com/video_im ... 31043.html

When can I finally export my movies with the 50% reduction??? Just like it says on the website.

As explained - it's not a bug it is as intended. We corrected the typo on the main site, but the incorrect information is on the distributors page - I'll email him to change this. The confusion came in as on the old SD export tool it was 50%, the demo was changed to 25% when we updated to full HD.

Kind regards, Support (A)
