DL1 - GPS light flashing wildly
Hi, Can anyone tell me what it means when the GPS light is flashing fast as soon as you turn on the DL1? It's not the normal flashing (which I believe should be: count then pause then count etc.) which tells you how many satellites are found. What I am seeing is a different, faster, flashing with no...

Hmm... what on earth happened in this data?
Can anyone explain what might have gone wrong here or how to avoid it in future? I helped my Dad set up his DL1 which is wired up to just analogue RPM and GPS sensors. The logger is 5 years old but was recently returned from being repaired/upgraded. To configure it I formateed a flash card and saved...

Thankyou very much for the emails, great response here. The very long one I will reply to in due course! I'm not sure what injection is on the car the sensor will be fitted to. I like cars with an 'i' on the badge, ('e' in the case of my road/track car)because they manage acceptable fuel consumption...

Request - any sample data with lambda
Hello users/staff, A friend has asked about logging lambda values and is thinking about getting a race-technology device to do so. Presumably a DL1 is the simplest way to do this but is there a cheaper option? Presently they don't want the other features of the DL1 but do find them interesting. Seco...

Status light output broken?
Hi, I've had a go at connecting an LED to the 'logging status' output on the back of my late DL1 Mk 1. When done as per the instructions: +12v-------6k_resistor---------LED>|-----------logging_status_connection this is what happens: Not logging- LED is lit, not very bright but it's lit. Logging - LE...

I do find that setting the triggers can be a bit of work and it can feel like you're fudging the initial launch (if it's standing start run), but it's not bad and it's probably unrealistic to expect it to perfectly calibrate itself. If anyone's interested here are my runs - complete with some strang...

Comparing acceleration runs
I have a DL1 and hope to use it to compare acceleration runs; hopefully to approximately confirm the effects of changes to engine tuning. What would be the best way to do this? The method I use now is tedious and time consuming: I load an acceleration run, then trim the start off so the run begins e...

I charted horsepower, but it just seemed to be a figure that increased the faster I went? It read up to about 240bhp for my car which was recently dynod at only 186bhp!! I put the weight in too. Can we have a bit more of a description on how to use it or how it works please? Does it measure wheel ho...

Peak G readings - do they mean anything?
I'm trying to test a number of cars round the same bit of track and get a lateral G figure for them. However, I am finding it hard to get reliable results. Using the summary statistics I can view the "peak" G, but this is not that useful. It seems if you throw the car from left to right, you can get...

Just bought it - it doesn't seem to work?
Hi, I just acquired a brand new DL1 from race technology. I have put a brand new, FAT16 formatted 512MB flash card in it. When I hook it up to the power, the status light constantly flashes on and off (normal I think) I allow the GPS to lock onto 7 or 8 satellites. When I press stop/start logging, t...
