I've been meaning to set up the shift lights so they are activated based on another variable. Then set that variable to be equal to RPM, provided whatever condition you're monitoring is ok. Then, set it equal to whatever RPM flashes all the lights when your alert condition is met. This could be mult...

I had the same issue. I completely uninstalled 8.5, rebooted, and reinstalled 8.5. It worked!

This is on a Win 7 Home laptop, if it matters. I haven't had any issue on my desktop computer with the same version and Windows install.

I had debated making a green screen (chromakey) movie to use as the background, make custom gauges fill the whole screen, then overlay that onto my actual video using another program, and manually sync the two. Laziness prevailed and I got the video license instead. The functionality before you have...

Try stopping the log by pushing the button before cutting power. I believe there are issues when you cut power if the logger is still running.

I've been experimenting with SoloStorm on an Android tablet at the track: m It's designed for American autocross, I imagine it would work for hill climbs - no idea if it'd work for circuit racing. It's definitely biased towards quick driver assessments, not car tuning. It pulls data from the DL1 via...

Colin105 - is your box able to read suspension position data at a high frequency and output that as a velocity to the DL1 at the 100 Hz the older DL1s can handle? This is something that many people want, but there are no solutions out there to do this.

I received my video license May 08, 2009, would that mean that it's not the 'widescreen' licence?

Is it common practice for licenses to expire at some point? That seems to break with Race Technology's practice of a larger up-front charge with minimal additional fees.

Same problem here, using versions 8.5.0048 and 8.5.0043.

It says 'No video licence available'. I even tried using a lower-res video (stuff that worked before with 8.0.8075) and no go.

Speed = rate of change of distance Acceleration = rate of change of speed Jerk = rate of change of acceleration So it's how fast you change direction of turning, or from accelerating to braking, or vice-versa. I don't understand how a kart's jerk would matter with an accelerometer reading at 200 Hz,...

I feel that it would be a powerful tool to sell more data logger units. Whenever I post video with the low-res gauge display, I get a bunch of people asking how I did that, what they have to buy to do similar, etc. There are two locals that have purchased DL1s in part because of that. Giving the abi...

An easy accelerometer test: Detach it from the car. Start logging. Set it on a flat surface on the front face, flat, and on it's side. Look at the data, plotted against time. You should see nice pure fore-aft and lateral G-forces with little to no blending. i.e. when you're at 1G towards the front f...

When I have that problem I just move my finish line to the area just before I deviate from the racing line. You won't get a perfect lap time but it does let you check that last lap closely.

You could also use separate start & finish lines like an autocross/hill climb.

Video Synchroniser - Price?

You teased us with the mention of your Video Synchroniser in the November newsletter: m - How much is it? (US $ please) - Can the LED be remote-mounted? My car is primarily used on the street, I'd much prefer a single LED mounted in a vent or similar (still in direct line of sight of the camera) tha...

I tried squishing the gauge bitmap by 1.125:1 vertically and realigning everything, the needles still didn't line up but got closer. I've been using it as is, I figure it doesn't really matter if the RPM/speed is off by <10% on a YouTube video. I have a digital display for speed if anyone cares. Rec...

I have a similar situation. What I do is before every run I start and then stop logging fairly quickly, then I start logging again for the duration of the run. Then when looking at the run files I simply rename the file right after the tiny file with my name. Then delete the tiny files, and the ones...
