For what it is worth, I ALWAYS use an autostart based on speed and have seen no issues. You can still start with the button, but if you forget, power is interrupted, etc, the unit will start for you. No need to use autostop just because you are using autostart, I usually don't but that is just habit.

Also, recent firmware is less prone to this problem anyway, so might be worth updating firmware in any event. If you do have recent (ie last 2 years or so) firmware, by all means try the self-repair process first. If that doesn't work, a very tecchie individual with a hex editor etc might be able to...
